How to Get Help (Non-Residential and Outreach Services)

Casa de Misericordia understands that in order to break the cycle of domestic violence, education must be provided and comprehended. Domestic violence is not caused by the victims, but by the abuser.

If you think you are a victim of domestic violence and want information, call (956) 712-9591 or 1-877-SU-CASA-2 (toll free). Casa staff can assist you with a safety plan and answer questions regarding your situation. All information obtained is confidential. Casa's goal is to orient, educate and provide emotional support to domestic violence victims. Appropriate referrals will be made to community agencies depending on the needs of the victim.

Your safety is of utmost importance. Sometimes the abuse has escalated to the point where you may have to leave your home. Plan ahead, think of relatives, friends, etc. who can assist you. If it is in your best interest to leave your home, do not forget legal documents, change of clothes, money, medication, children's diapers, formula and child's favorite toy. Another consideration may be a protective order. A protective order will remove the batterer from the house. For more information on protective orders, call Casa.
