Community Programs

A variety of classes and programs are offered for community members and Casa residents. Examples include:

Sisters of Mercy Family Recreation Center provides place for women and children to walk, play, enjoy the outdoors in a safe environment. 

Children’s Summer Camps
This two-week summer camp engages both children and their mothers.

  • Children ages 4 – 8 years participate in a literacy program that emphasizes the fun aspect of reading
  • Children ages 9 – 12 years take part in arts and crafts activities
  • Other learning activities for kids of all ages include lessons in music, nutrition, etiquette, and prevention of bullying
  • Mothers have the opportunity to practice their culinary skills by cooking meals for the children and other residents

Women’s Empowerment Program
This two-week program includes activities designed to raise both self-esteem and self-discovery.  Women are encouraged to broaden their minds, to develop a sense of cultural pride, to develop personal gifts, and to develop the courage to try new things.  The courses include a wide spectrum of courses including auto repair, how to dress for success, how to prepare a resume and self-defense.
