Ray Keck, Ph.D – BOARD CHAIR – Ray Keck is a graduate of Texas Military Institute in San Antonio and received his undergraduate, master’s, and doctorate degrees from Princeton University. Dr. Keck is an accomplished musician and has held various academic posts as well as working in the banking industry. Dr. Keck is currently the president of Texas A & M International University and is deeply involved with the community of Laredo.
Nancy de Anda – Ms. de Anda is an independent businesswoman,
owner of Juvencio’s Men’s Wear and Gateway Cleaners and is involved
in multiple civic clubs and community activities. She is past president
and a member of the Women’s City club, a strong supporter of Mercy and
former Mercy Health System of Texas board member.

Sr. Carol Ann Callahan, RSM - Biography coming soon.
Edna de la Garza – Ms. de la Garza is a nurse, teacher
and member of the Laredo Community College Allied Health advisory board.
She is also a past member of the Casa de Misericordia board.
Jorge Gonzalez
– Mr. Gonzalez is a senior vice president of Falcon International Bank
and immediate past president of the Laredo Chamber of Commerce. He is
involved in multiple civic and community activities and is a former Mercy
Health Plans operations and marketing manager.
Honorable Judith Gutierrez – Ms. Gutierrez is county commissioner,
an independent businesswoman, civic leader and past member of Mercy Health
Center’s advisory board. She has shown a long history of support and help
for the disadvantaged and is a strong supporter of Mercy outreach services.

Roger B. Perales – Mr. Perales holds a master’s degree in public health administration
and is coordinator of the South Texas Environmental Education and Research
Program (STEER), sponsored by the University of Texas Health Science Center
of San Antonio, Laredo Campus. This program is designed for students in
the health field seeking advanced education in issue affecting residents
of the U.S. - Mexico border. Mr. Perales is a member of Casa de Misericordia’s
board.

Sr. Maria Luisa Vera, RSM – A Texas native, Sister Maria
Luisa is the President and CEO of Mercy Ministries of Laredo. Prior to accepting this position, she served as a councilor on the Institute of the Sisters
of Mercy of the Americas Leadership Team. A former nurse, she did parish
and vocation work in Laredo prior to being elected to serve in various
leadership positions within the Sisters of Mercy Regional Community of
St. Louis.
Sr. Camilla Verret, RSM - Sr. Camilla currently serves as director of mission services at St. John’s Mercy Hospital in Washington, Missouri. She is co-founder of the Women’s Intercultural Center in Anthony, New Mexico and conducted ministry at the New Mexico-Mexico border from 1991-1999. She has served in many roles as a Sister of Mercy, including religious vocation work both for the Sisters of Mercy and the Archdiocese of Omaha, Nebraska, and seven years on the national leadership team of the Sisters of Mercy of the Union before the formation of the Institute of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas. She also has experience as a teacher, liturgist and musician.
